Biography

Dr David Chan is a Neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS). He supports the Spine Chapter of the Hong Kong Neurosurgical Society (HKNS) as the Spine Chapter Convener (2020-2024).

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
He was awarded the Best Research Award in 2016 and 2017 from the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong with a Distinction in his HST Research Project in 2018 and was awarded the Best Original Paper Award in 2019 from the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong.

He was awarded the GB Ong Visiting Fellowship from the University of Hong Kong to visit the University of Toronto and the University of Columbia New York-Presbyterian Hospital as a Visiting Scholar in Spine Surgery in 2022.

He is passionate in endoscopic spine surgery and participated in one of the first Endoscopic Lumbar Interbody Fusion (EndoLIF) operation in May 2021 at Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH). He also participated in one of the first Robotic-assisted EndoLIF with intraoperative CT in July 2022 at PWH.

He is a Life Member of the Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS).
